Self-Care Awareness Month

September is National Self-Care Awareness Month.  While there is no single definition of self-care, it is often described as performing a series of actions to improve your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Practicing self-care promotes a healthy relationship with yourself to benefit from your physical, mental, and emotional health. When you are unable to care for yourself, it is nearly impossible to care for others. Therefore, self-care allows you to establish a positive mindset that will translate to good feelings and emotions for others around you. By taking the time to let yourself recharge, you will improve the outlook of yourself and others and develop significantly lower unhealthy amounts of stress.


Use the month of September to make self-care a part of your daily routine – practice being good to yourself. It can be as simple as a conscious breath in the morning or as luxurious as time away from everyday life pressures.   • Let go of something holding your back today (mobile phone, social media, watching the news)
  • Reflect on what you are grateful for in this season of life
