Down on the Corner : The Post Office

Lots of talks right now about the “troubled “ US POST OFFICE. Most of the talk revolves around the role the post office will play during the coming election. Will they be able to provide the critical function of delivering, on time and safely, voter ballots. This is, of course, of paramount importance but it’s not the only critical job the post office provides.

For many people, the mail is an absolute lifeline to numerous social services they depend upon for their behavioral health needs. From housing assistance to their medication, the Mail is the only means of connection. Safe and reliable delivery of the mail can mean the difference between a healthy life and one filled with struggle and disease.

Simply put, a functioning mail system is absolutely necessary for maintaining a healthy and free society. Don’t let anyone tell you anything else.
